"Small Mercenaria permagna clam fossil almost completely filled in by and replaced with honey-colored calcite crystals up to 1.6cm in length. Specimen backlights nicely. The calcite crystals in this fossilized clam shell-Mercenaria Permagna-Pleistocene grew in the natural pockets formed by buried fossil clamshells.
